Kody is a former competitive athlete where he manned the crease as a goaltender during the winter months while playing softball during the summer.He was twice named HERH Male Athlete of the Year, is a former draft pick of the Halifax Mooseheads (2008), and a two-time CIS Academic All-Canadian playing varsity hockey with Brock and Saint Mary’s University.

In 2011, Kody was a member of a Nova Scotia provincial team that won the Canadian Jr. Men’s Softball Championship.Recognizing the important role that community volunteers played in his development, Kody has volunteered his time by coaching minor sports in East Hants. Kody has coached and volunteered in East Hants Minor Hockey for over a decade, including helping guide the Peewee AAA Penguins to a Provincial Championship during the 2015-2016 season as an assistant coach.Outside of hockey, Kody has given his time to East Hants Minor Softball.

Kody is passionate about what sport and recreation mean to bring communities together and believes the skills learned provide a solid foundation for life.
